Location: Oldbury

Salary: £35,000 per annum + up to 10% Annual Bonus

Hours: Rotational shifts between 7am-8pm, including weekends

The AA, the nation’s leading motoring organisation, is seeking passionate individuals like you to join our AAmazing Technical Help Desk team – Repair Management Solutions (RMS)

In this role, you’ll be the bridge between drivers in distress and our expert mechanics. Whether it’s a mysterious dashboard light or a stranded driver, you’ll be there to save the day.

What will I be doing?

  • Providing Expert Advice: Providing professional technical advice to Customers, AA Patrols, deployment staff, Complex Case Managers, and third parties during live breakdown situations. Your expertise will ensure the right resources are deployed promptly
  • Breakdown Triage: Assessing and triaging recovery tasks. You’ll work to facilitate extended repairs near the original breakdown location or en route to the customer’s chosen recovery destination. Let’s reduce those loaded recovery miles!
  • Parts Support: Assisting our Patrols in locating and sourcing parts for repairs, especially when they’re not readily available from our suppliers
  • Communication Wizard: You’ll assess breakdown tasks via various channels—Telephone, Email, SMS, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, and AA Help streams. Your goal? Identify the best resourcing or repair opportunities for cost savings and efficient solutions
  • Marvellous Multi-tasker: You’ll manage multiple RMS intervention tasks. You’ll liaise with our team to ensure seamless coordination and timely responses.

What do I need?

  • Qualifications: You’ll need a Level 2 City & Guilds or NVQ in Motor Vehicle Maintenance/Repair.
  • Hands-On Experience: Prior motor vehicle service and repair experience is essential
  • Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency in motor vehicle fault diagnosis is a must.
  • Communication: You will be able to translate complex technical information into clear and concise language, maintaining a professional manner.
  • Customer Care: Experience of demonstrating a high level of customer care, especially during breakdown situations, is crucial
