Step into the role of Legal Counsel at the AA and become a cornerstone in our legal framework. Your role, reporting to the Head of Legal – Commercial, will be vital in drafting and advising on pivotal contracts, shaping our strategic partnerships and the future of the AA.

What will I be doing?

  • Navigate new ventures with day-to-day legal advice, infusing commercial insight and operational acumen.
  • Manage legalities adeptly across the business, spearheading key B2C and B2B commercial projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Group Risk and Compliance, ensuring matters are handled with expertise.
  • Enhance legal operations by driving best practices and efficiencies, setting the standard for legal excellence.
  • Champion new regulations, playing a pivotal role in their application and implementation, shaping the legal landscape.

What do I need?

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience across a broad range of commercial contracts (customer and supplier).
  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills.
  • Adept at superimposing complex legal issues on to the reality of business operations, as well as the ability to communicate those issues in a simple and engaging way.
  • Desire to work and flourish in a fast paced, change focused environment.
  • Experience of working in another large corporate organisation.
  • Willing to step outside of your comfort zone and try new things.
  • Continued focus on professional development and an interest in increasing efficiency through the use of technology. Effective communication skills to convey advice clearly across all business levels, including senior leadership.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills to navigate commercial and regulatory outcomes successfully.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Professional qualification in Law (LLM or LLB or similar).
  • Current SRA practicing certificate
