Joining The AA as a Senior IT Developer, you will be responsible for low-level solution design and development within an Agile delivery team, you’ll provide technical guidance in the team and support the development of best practice across the broader digital engineering function.

You’ll closely collaborate with Product Owners, Designers & Architects as well as a varied group of key business stakeholders to deliver and maintain responsive, well tested frontend experiences to our customers for both app & web platforms.

Specialising in front-end development, we’re looking for someone who has strong front end development skills within Typescript, React/React Native, NodeJS and AngularJS alongside a commitment to technical excellence and iterative, test-driven development.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Senior Developer who is looking to use their skills and knowledge to drive technical excellence and change whilst working on the critical business-facing website for one of the UK's largest Road Breakdown companies.

What will I be doing?

  • Define and develop technical systems, features and components in areas of capability
  • Support the team during sprint/iteration planning by working with stakeholders, analysts and team members to understand business requirements and break work needed into autonomously deliverable tasks suitable for incremental delivery
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of team priorities and plans including identifying/resolving issues, providing feedback to prevent a future problem
  • Produce ready, performant and testable code easily understood by other developers meeting requirements and in line with organisational standards
  • Collaborate with peer reviews ensuring code delivered within the team is secure, appropriately documented and meet agreed architectural standards
  • Provide level 3 Application Support when required – this may sometimes be outside of normal working hours

What do I need?

  • Be able to demonstrate a strong blend of both technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to not only know your tech but also translate ‘tech-jargon’ to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong IT Developer with key experience utilising React/React Native, Typescript, NodeJS & Angular JS
  • Experienced app and web IT Developer across various platforms, ideally within a B2C environment
  • Have acted as the ‘technical lead’ for the team to have an initial point of contact for all technical queries, issues and escalations as well as coaching/mentoring team members to develop their skills
  • Experienced with producing timely delivery of work for medium/large scale development programmes/ projects
  • Knowledge and experience with setting and maintaining coding standards within in front-end development
