The AA is aiming to expand its financial services by re-entering the loans and savings market through a strategic partnership with a bank. As the Product Lead for Loans, you will play a pivotal role in defining and shaping the future of this growing business, currently in the pre-launch phase.

Reporting to the Head of Loans and Savings, you will be responsible for developing the overall strategy, design, and execution of loans products and services. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure our loans products meet customer needs and align with our business objectives.

What will I be doing?

  • Support the Head of Savings & Loans in developing a set of priorities aligned with business objectives for the specific project or business area, including prioritisation and trade-offs.
  • Build a deep understanding of consumer needs and market gaps, translating these insights into a prioritised list of products and feature developments.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and actively measure both quantitative and qualitative performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.
  • Set pricing strategy for personal loans, in close collaboration with Bank partner
  • Execute plans for each product, evolving the channel mix to support trading needs and respond to market opportunities.
  • Drive and support root cause analysis of loan performance, including drivers for declines
  • Prepare and present reports on the performance of the loans products and third-party partnerships to senior management.
  • Oversee the product development lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with marketing, data, IT, and other relevant departments to ensure seamless integration and delivery of third-party products and services.
  • Keep a wide range of stakeholders engaged and informed of progress, organising internal demos, retrospectives, backlog grooming, and refinement sessions, including operations, compliance, finance, and product teams.
  • Share learnings and experiences with other product owners in the organisation, such as through a community of practice.

What do I need?

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the financial services industry.
  • Good understanding of retail banking products and services, with sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing third-party partnerships and collaborations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyse complex data and make sound business decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities and issues, and come up with appropriate and timely solutions.
  • Experience in business process management or service design.
  • Ability to understand and interpret data and digital performance trends.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, able to negotiate, influence, inspire, and motivate.
  • Customer-focused with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • End-to-end ownership and accountability mindset – able to think strategically but take a hands-on approach.
  • Entrepreneurial and forward-thinking, with the ability to drive change and improvement.
  • Natural ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders and colleagues.
