Actuarial Graduate Training
Mainly known for its breakdown assistance, the AA is one of the most recognised and trusted brands in the country. And with good reason – we are the UK's number one, with around 15 million members and over 100 years of history.
But we're a surprisingly diverse organisation, with a number of market-leading businesses. Our nationwide driving school has a significant presence on the roads, we publish highly-regarded hotel and restaurant guides, maps and travel guides, and our road signs point the way to special events and locations throughout the country.
Financial services are an important part of our business: we are the UK's biggest independent insurance broker with 1.6 million car, home and life insurance policies, and we provide nearly 120,000 loans every year.
The actuarial role
Actuaries provide commercial, financial and technical advice underpinning the operation of insurance companies, pension funds and other financial institutions to help them, their customers and the public make financial sense of the future.
Our 12-strong Pricing Team of actuarial and non-actuarial staff is based at our head office in Basingstoke. As part of this team, you can expect to become heavily involved with pricing car and home insurance contracts, as well as gaining exposure to our other business portfolios. You'll also develop statistical modelling and financial forecasting skills to help us build on our continuing success across our product range.
What we're looking for
We're looking for candidates with a 2:1 degree or above, with a high level of maths, statistics, economics or actuarial science. Analytical skills are essential, as well as the dedication and motivation to qualify as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. You'll contribute to our team with your numerical, verbal, IT and time-management skills. And you'll benefit from an exciting workplace that provides high-level guidance and support so you can take responsibility early.
Salary and benefits
As well as a competitive starting salary, you'll benefit from 25 days' holiday allowance, flexible working hours, a contributory defined benefit pension scheme, a range of discounts on AA products and services, and a customised package of study support to help you qualify.
